A default service charge adds a percentage to every sale at checkout. You set it in POS Settings > Components > Checkout.
Before you start
A manager or owner login.
Steps
Tap the menu icon (three lines) at the top right of the basket to open the basket options menu.
Under Misc, tap Settings. POS Settings opens.
Tap Components in the list on the left.
Tap Checkout.
Tap Service Charge.
Tap the percentage you want, for example 5.0%.
Tap the X at the top left to close POS Settings.
What you should see
The service charge shows on the payment screen, not on the basket. For example, with 5.0% set on a £45.00 basket:
Tap Checkout. Only the ... buttons show for Cash and Card.
Tap ... under Cash. The screen shows To Pay £45.00, Service £2.25 and Total £47.25.
Tap Exact, then Pay.
The customer pays £47.25, including £2.25 service.
Good to know
The basket total does not include the service charge. Tell the customer the total from the payment screen.
With a service charge set, the quick cash buttons and both Exact buttons are not on the Payment step. Use ... to take the payment.
Set Service Charge back to 0% to remove it.
