Close out at the end of the day

Count the till, record the float and card totals, and submit the close out.

Written by Andrew Lau

A close out records what is in the till at the end of a period and compares it with the sales the till took. You also need a close out before you can change the store an iPad sells for.

Before you start

  • Complete or delete every open basket on the till, including other users' baskets.

  • Have the cash counted by denomination, and the card, cheque and voucher totals to hand.

Steps

  1. Open POS Settings > Reports.

  2. Under Close Out, tap New.

  3. Enter the Cash float.

  4. Under Cash quantities, enter how many of each coin and note you have.

  5. Enter the card (Credit and Debit), cheque and voucher totals where you took them.

  6. Tap the tick at the top right.

  7. A message says this resets the current X Read total. Tap Continue.

  8. Close Out Upload Success shows. Tap OK.

Look at past close outs

POS Settings > Reports > Close Out > View lists past close outs. If you have not run one yet, the till says "No Close Outs: There are no close outs to display."

What you should see

The close out is submitted and shows under View. You can compare the totals by payment type with the day's sales. In Shopwave Admin, each store's Close Out tab lists them too.
